For most of our roles, the hiring process can take anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks, depending on the role, location, and number of applicants.

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experiences, and make employment decisions based on qualifications, skills, and potential. To us, you're more than just a candidate – you could be a future colleague and join our welcoming workplace.

Inclusion at Sysco

STAGE 1:
Apply

  1. Apply directly through the job posting on the Sysco Career Site. Set aside 15 to 30 minutes to complete.
  2. Ensure your resume and cover letter are updated, well-written, and highlight relevant skills and experience.
  3. After submitting your application, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to review your application and status. You can expect to receive an update in 1 to 2 weeks of submission.
  4. Sign up for our Talent Community to receive the freshest updates on other relevant roles!

STAGE 2:
Screenings and interviews

Once your application is submitted, you may be invited to participate in one or more screening steps. These are designed to assess your qualifications and overall fit for the role.

Screening formats may include phone interviews with a recruiter, or digital assessments sent via email or text message (they may also include video components).

Sysco also requires a pre-employment background check and drug screening for all new hires. These are standard for jobs in food distribution, driving, warehouse operations, and even corporate roles, ensuring a safe and trustworthy workplace.

If you progress past the initial screening, you may be invited to an online or in-person interview with a hiring manager or HR representative. Depending on the role, this could also include a panel interview or a presentation component.

For many roles - like drivers or warehouse positions - you may also complete a job-specific assessment digitally or via phone or through a practical test.

STAGE 3:
Preparing for success

If you are selected for the role, you'll receive an offer letter outlining the terms of employment.

An offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of all pre-employment requirements, including a criminal background check, drug screen, completed I-9 Form, and providing the required documentation within three (3) business days of your date of hire.

Outside of the role-required certifications and licensing, Sysco will provide orientation and relevant training to help you get acquainted with the company and your role.
