Here’s our hiring philosophy

We know applying for a new job is a big step. That’s why we’ve designed a hiring process that’s transparent, respectful, and focused on helping you show us what makes you a great fit for Sysco.

For most of our roles, the hiring process can take anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks, depending on the role, location, and number of applicants.

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experiences, and make employment decisions based on qualifications, skills, and potential. To us, you're more than just a candidate – you could be a future colleague and join our welcoming workplace.

Together, through Sysco Corporation, its subsidiaries and affiliates, we’re building a workplace where everyone can thrive and feel valued.

Inclusion at Sysco

STAGE 1:
Apply

  1. Apply directly through the job posting on the Sysco Career Site. Set aside 15 to 30 minutes to complete.
  2. Ensure your resume and cover letter are updated, well-written, and highlight relevant skills and experience.
  3. After submitting your application, you will receive a confirmation email acknowledging receipt. If you choose to create or sign in to a Candidate Home account, you can also view your application activity there. You can expect to receive an update within 1–2 weeks of submitting your application.
  4. Sign up for our Talent Community to receive the freshest updates on other relevant roles!

STAGE 2:
Screenings and interviews

Once your application is submitted, you may be invited to participate in one or more screening steps. These are designed to assess your qualifications and overall fit for the role.

Screening formats may include phone interviews with a recruiter, or digital assessments sent via email or text message (they may also include video components).

Sysco also requires a pre-employment background check and drug screening for all new hires. These are standard for jobs in food distribution, driving, warehouse operations, and even corporate roles, ensuring a safe and trustworthy workplace.

If you progress past the initial screening, you may be invited to an online or in-person interview with a hiring manager or HR representative. Depending on the role, this could also include a panel interview or a presentation component.

For many roles - like drivers or warehouse positions - you may also complete a job-specific assessment digitally or via phone or through a practical test.

STAGE 3:
Preparing for success

If you are selected for the role, you'll receive an offer letter outlining the terms of employment. If you have not already done so, you may be asked to create or sign in to a Candidate Home account to review and complete offer-related documents.

An offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of all pre-employment requirements, including a criminal background check, drug screen, completed I-9 Form, and providing the required documentation within three (3) business days of your date of hire.

Outside of role-required certifications and licensing, Sysco will provide orientation and relevant training to help you get acquainted with the company and your role.

Please ensure that all information you provide throughout the interview process accurately reflects your own skills, qualifications, and experiences. Any falsification or misrepresentation, including content or responses created or substantially assisted by another person or by tools such as generative AI, may result in disqualification from Sysco's hiring process.

We recognize that AI tools have become increasingly common and can be valuable in helping candidates prepare for interviews and present their experiences effectively.

However, the use of generative AI, recording devices, or transcription tools during assessments or interviews is not permitted. This policy helps ensure a fair, authentic, and consistent interview experience for all candidates and reflects Sysco's commitment to integrity.

We know you’ll have questions, too.

Come prepared with your own questions. The best interviews are conversations. While we're excited to learn more about you, we also want you to learn more about us. Our recruitment and hiring teams are here to answer your questions and help you better understand Sysco and the opportunity.
