JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for generating data and performing analytics on complex and large-scale customers to optimize customer assortment or validate profitability of potential new business. Generates proactive opportunities based on independent analysis and is responsible for driving results. Communicates with executive level internal customers on findings and proposed direction. Leads team on Support Request calls as needed, and coaches and mentors Analysts, reviewing their work for quality and consistency.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform complex and large-scale customer opportunity analysis, including new business market basket EI analysis, category-level product conversion initiatives, market-based formula programs, and comprehensive analysis of customers’ product assortments (assessing profitability of new customer and/or recommending an optimal assortment for existing customers)
- Participate in opportunity validation calls to identify the scope of request from the National Sales team. Manage assigned Support Requests, define data requirements, collect required data needed for analysis, and validate accuracy of the analysis. Select and recommend a course of action for the assigned request by completing the analysis and creating deliverable(s) to communicate with the National Sales team.
- Develop ideas and tools to improve usability of Sysco’s internal data sources. Work cross-functionally to automate or improve existing processes to streamline accuracy and performance. Lead the design and implementation of a new dashboard and visualization tool in efforts to drive value to sales leadership and customers.
- Support the Manager in collaborating with sales leads to develop customer-specific strategies, particularly in identifying and pursuing proactive opportunities with key National Sales customers (conversion/penetration opportunities), performing analyses, and helping to track against recommended opportunities. Participate in weekly VPNA calls as applicable.
- Engage in regular collaboration with Merchandising teams to enhance product knowledge, gain costing insights to aid in pricing strategy development, and identify the optimal product assortment for National Sales customers.
- Occasional interaction with customers during presentation of pricing proposals and during select customer business reviews. Participate in planning and strategy and customer debrief sessions.
- Provide ad-hoc training and mentorship of Analysts, offering coaching and guidance on analyses. Review Analysts’ completed work for accuracy and completeness.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education Required:
- 4-year bachelor’s degree
Education Preferred:
- 4-year bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science or related field; Master’s degree or MBA preferred
Experience Required:
- 4+ years of progressive quantitative analytics experience required.
Experience Preferred:
- Distribution or foodservice experience a plus.
Technical Skills & Abilities:
- Quantitative problem-solver; analytical thinker who can draw conclusions from multiple data sources
- Strong written and oral communication skills; polished presentation skills in front of an executive audience
- Collaborative team player who works well with others to achieve positive results
- Entrepreneurial spirit; embraces change and the challenge to innovate that comes with it Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel (e.g. formulas, pivot tables, data connections, macros and automation)
- Intermediate Powerpoint skills (e.g., ability to create and manipulate decks, add charts and other visuals
- Proficiency in database access and reporting; Experience in SQL, Tableau, 1010Data, SAS, R or other relevant data mining software preferred.
