Job Profile Summary Responsible supervising colleagues within the production areas on all aspects of food safety quality programs. Activities include: • Supervising all Food Safety related corporate processes, and food safety program standards to fulfill the requirements from a service or manufactured material, component, or product produced from a value-added department. • Auditing, monitoring, and determining the quality of processes or outputs, either against defined internal and/or regulatory standards and leading all audits of customer needs and support, SQF, FDA, USDA and other regulatory required activities. • Overseeing and supervising of all related Product integrity testing, coloring, fitting and pattern and wet processing to ensure orders follow corporate/customers' quality requirements. • Reporting on process deviations and defects to site leadership team and Senior leadership of corporate FSQA. Supervising specification and labeling development assuring content, information and required regulations are accurate and in place for items produced and manufactured within the value-added production rooms.

JOB SUMMARY

This position reports directly to FSPM and will supervise QA techs who are overseeing all production rooms responsible for the required corporate food safety capabilities and FSQA programs and responsibilities daily.  The supervisor will be responsible as well for the overall quality and integrity of the items manufactured.  The supervisor will be working directly with all key site leaders ensuring proper communication and overall awareness on related issues or concerns from a FSQA perspective.  These roles would include, VP of Operations, President, and FSQA Senior Leadership as needed to resolve all FSQA related issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct daily walk-through of assigned areas to check the work of direct reports and the quality of the product.
  • Review programs and checks completed from Direct Reports daily for quality issues and resolve concerns or issues accordingly.
  • Ensure food safety policies are being upheld. Check all workflows as needed per the requirements of the food safety programs and as outlined within SQF/FDA/USDA requirements.
  • Communicate quality issues to site leadership being FSQA corporate leadership, local site buyers, managers, day warehouse, and receivers, as well as informing of any shortage and damage of product or poor quality of the product.
  • Supervise and review the rework of all distressed/damaged products manufactured within the value-added production rooms ensuring quality and FSQA programs are met.
  • Lead and conduct all training and feedback to direct reports as it relates to quality processes and company procedures.
  • Ensure that safety procedures are followed daily.
  • Coaching and evaluation of employees as needed for safe work and Food Safety policy compliance.
  • Conduct and perform Coaching Maximizing Performance Reviews (CMP) of all direct reports regularly to ensure they are on track to meet their goals.
  • Oversee and schedule staffing of direct reports and QA techs for coverage and work duties within value added rooms and production areas.
  • Oversee and Manage Audit Comply reviewing daily data entries and checks ensuring accuracy and adherence to SQF programs and corporate FSQA requirements.
  • Assist with Periodic Equipment Cleaning, scheduling and communicating with maintenance team on equipment related repairs and needs to ensure operational safety and efficiency needs.

QUALIFICATIONS Education

  • HS diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate degree in related discipline.

Experience

  • 1-3 years’ experience in food manufacturing experience and food safety related programs and responsibilities with perishable products; and /or a combination of education and industry experience.

Professional Skills

  • Ability to solve problems independently and effectively articulate and communicate information.
  • Able to supervise and motivate hourly employees.
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other computer programs to help execute reports, charts and customer presentations if required and to present key deliverables of production-related metrics to Senior leadership team and FSPM.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Audit Comply capabilities and overall knowledge.
  • Experience using powered industrial equipment (forklift, electric pallet jack).
  • Training capabilities and speaking skills.
  • Bilingual would be preferred but not required.
  • Strong written communication skills.

DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY

Most important decisions made fully independently:

  • Decide what to do with the product regarding receiving, delivering to the customer, and/or spoilage.
  • FSQA related production concerns food safety programs and risks associated.

  • Coaching and training of employees

Most important decisions made with review and approval of other individuals or supervisors (include the reviews/approvals required):

  • Product non-conformance issues due to risks of food safety concerns
  • Product rejections due to associated risks resulting from non-conformances in programs and or quality related issues.
  • Ability to place nonconformance products on HOLD pending further discussion and disposition from FSPM and senior site leadership.
